LIGHTING AUDITS

3. LIGHTING AUDITS

The first step to a successful lighting upgrade is the lighting survey or audit. The purpose of an audit is to assess the existing conditions and enable a comparison to be made with proposed upgrades. Lighting audit is an important step in understanding the current lighting energy costs which in turn can be utilized to plan and engineer an efficient lighting scenario.

In the first step, we gather and organize information about the existing lighting systems and their application. Our team of professionals collects following information:

  • Total number and type of existing Light fixtures
  • The existing average lux level of the working planes
  • Calculate the net wattage considering control gear losses
  • Existing lighting layout
  • Number of operational Hours for each Light Fixture
  • Average life of the existing Light Fixtures

In order to calculate the running cost of existing lighting system, following factors needs consideration:

  • Energy cost for existing lighting system
  • Cooling cost for existing premises
  • Maintenance cost for each light fitting

By evaluating all the above information, our experienced engineers propose most efficient and appropriate lighting system for the project. By the passage of time, we have developed interactive calculation sheets, which can evaluate following factor by simply entering data from existing configuration:

  • Graphical representation of accumulated savings generated by the new configuration
  • Overall maintenance saving for each luminaire type
  • Accumulated Energy savings generated by the new configuration
  • Payback period estimation for the new configuration of lighting system

On the completion of the analysis, the technical auditors will compare the variable and fixed costs of the old and new configurations. The final report which includes overall financial & technical summary, ROI and overall payback period will have our recommendations to comply the international standard of light levels according to the requirement of the application while considering the efficiency of the lighting systems at the same time.
